About Gold Portfolio Tracker

Gold Portfolio Tracker is a privacy-first web app for tracking physical gold, gold ETFs, and related positions. We designed this project around one rule: your portfolio data should stay on your device.

The calculator focuses on practical decisions such as position sizing, profit and loss tracking, and inflation-adjusted performance. Data is stored locally in your browser, and you can export JSON backups anytime.

Editorial Principles

Educational content in this project is written for self-directed investors who need practical workflows, not hype. We prioritize clear formulas, assumptions, and risk notes over generic market commentary. Every article includes explicit context for when a strategy may fail, such as liquidity constraints, storage premiums, tax treatment, and portfolio concentration risk.

We treat investment decisions as probabilistic outcomes. That means we avoid absolute claims like guaranteed returns or risk-free preservation. Instead, readers get scenario-based guidance: how to estimate drawdown tolerance, how to rebalance under volatility, and how to compare tracking methods across physical bullion and paper proxies.

Methodology and Data

Price calculations are designed for consistency rather than prediction. Spot prices and user-provided purchase data are combined with transparent formulas so you can verify every output. Inflation adjustment is intentionally simplified and should be treated as an approximation, not a substitute for comprehensive planning software.

If data assumptions change, we update the documentation and pages with visible timestamps. This keeps historical context intact and avoids silent model drift that can mislead returning users.

This project is updated as market practices and investor needs evolve. For feedback, use the contact page.
